Archie Bunker ארצ'י בנקר

דודה של אמילי נתנה לגבי כורסא קומפקטית עם תמונה של ספיידרמן. בהתחלה, גבי לא כל כך התייחס אליה, אבל אז נפל האסימון והוא אימץ לעצמו תנוחת ארצ'י בנקר קלאסית. העולל לוקח את הטלפון, נעמד עם הגב לכורסא ואז לוקח שני צעדים ברוורס ונותן לכח המשיכה לעשות את שלו. בתמונה, גבי מפטפט עם סבתא איירין.

Emily's aunt gave Gabs an armchair with a picture of Spiderman on it. In the beggining, Gabi didn't really give it any attention. But then something clicked, and the little one adopted an almost all too natural Archie Bunker like disposition. And now, he takes the phone, stands with his back to the chair, and starts walking backwards until he reaches the chair, allowing gravity to do its thing. The Best Children's Museum EVER

מוזיאון הילדים של ברוקלין נפתח מחדש ביום ראשון אחרי שנה של שיפוצים. התערוכה של אמילי היא לב המוזיאון. התערוכה - העולם של ברוקלין - עוסקת במגוון התרבויות בברוקלין ומאפשרת לילדים לבקר בפיצריה איטלקית, חנות אפריקנית, מאפיה מקסיקנית, חנות ספרים סינית, משרד נסיעות קריבי ותאטרון תנועה שמציג ריקודים של בני העדות השונות. המוזיאון, והתערוכה של אמיליה בפרט, פשוט נפלאים. הכל נורא מגרה ומסקרן את הילדים. יש למוזיאון גם פינת משחקים משוכללת שכוללת קיר מלא ברעשנים מכל מיני סוגי, מגלשות, תאתרון בובות, ספרייה וכו... גבי ואבא שלו נורא נורא גאים בלה קומפקט שפשוט שיחקה אותה לארג'. מתחת כמה תמונות של גבי, מפעיל את אחד מסרטוני הוידאו, משחק את קיר הרעשנים, ורץ כמו מטורף שההורים שלו לקחו למוזיאון הילדים הכי גרובי מגנובי שיש.

The Brooklyn Children's Museum reopened on Sunday after a year of construction. Emily's exhibit - World Brooklyn, is the heart of the space. The exhibit presents the different cultures and ethnicities who live in bklyn, allowing children to experience an Italian Pizzaria, an African store, a Mexican bakery, a Chinese bookstore, an international grocery, a real MTA bus and an interactive dance theatre that shows videos of different children dancing their national/heritage dances. The museum has a great toddler area that has an awesome wall filled with various noisemakers, a book corner, a water exhibit and a puppet show. Gabs and his father are just so very proud of la compact. Below are a few pics of Gabi, operating an interactive video display, playing with the noise makers and running like a crazy kid whose parents took him to the bestest children's museum there is.

The Civilizing Process

A video of the man child using a spoon and fork. It's really more of a novelty - finger candy he can play with. But he's trying and is even managing to get some stuff in there. Next week, the napkin.

במשך תקופה מאוד ארוכה - למעשה מאז שגבס נולד ועד עכשיו - הסתכלתי על גבי כעל מישהו קצת זר שאני צריך לנסות ולהבין ולפענח. נפל לי האסימון לפני איזה שבוע שלמעשה הוא זה שמנסה להבין ולפענח אותנו. נקודת המוצא שלו פחות או יותר נקייה מדברים שצריך לפענח ואני ולה קומפקט וכל שאר האנשים הם אלה שיש להם כל מיני התנהגויות שגבורסק צריך לפענח ולנסות להבין. יכול להיות שאני מאחר את הרכבת ומדובר בתובנה ברורה לכולם, אבל באמת שמדובר בתובנה חדשה עבורי.

For the longest time - since Gabs was born, really - I've been looking at him as someone a little alien that I must try to understand and interpret. About a week ago it dawned on me that he's the one that's actually trying to figure us out. His starting point is pretty much that of a clean slate, and it's me and la compact and others who have a mesh of behaviors and thoughts that the Man is trying to comprehend and relate to. I may be stating the obvious here, and this is really a new revelation for me.
